Did Humans Really Evolve from Primates?

The most common and believed theory is that humans were once Primates, called cavemen, that used sticks and stones and wandered around the earth. Which one sounds more realistic? Primates slowly transforming into humans or:
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis 1:26)

If God actually said such a thing that He created man in His own Image then we should probably rely on what He, the Creator, says rather than what scientists, the created says.
And also, Genesis 2:7 says:
"And the Lord God formed the man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul"
It does not say that God created Primates and those monkeys wandered around for thousands of years before turning into humans. That's even absurd to think about! And how could a mindless monkey name every animal on earth, how can a mindless monkey walk side by side with God and talk together? They can't! The theory says that the first 'humans' were extremely dumb. So how can something that dumb do all these things. And also, by calling humans monkeys, you are slapping God in the Face. God said "Create man in Our own Image..." So by Evolutionists saying that humans were created as monkeys is saying that God was originally a monkey, and that's not very good now, is it? Talk about an insult to our Holy Creator. And also, if you are saying "Well maybe He was!" Then you've never read Malachi 3:6:
"For I am the Lord, I do not change"
